Doubtless, organic farming (OF) usually results in lower contamination with a wide variety of chemicals that might impair soil functions and human health. Another aspect of organic farming is that it contributes to the mitigation of climate change: chemical nitrogen fertilizer is not allowed in OF, thus the contribution of microbial nitrogen fixation from the atmosphere, e.g. by Rhizobia, is encouarged. If you imagine that almost 2 percent of the global energy consumption by human activity is used for the Haber-Bosch process to technically regain nitrogen from the atmosphere, a lot of fossil fuels may be saved. And thus, less CO2 enters the atmosphere.
