The Trieste Next Festival of Scientific Research is held each year in September drawing crowds of thousands – from school children to elderly members of the public – interested in deepening their knowledge of science. A super opportunity for CEDRIC on the public arena, this year, our own Heribert Insam, project partner from BioTreaT, Austrian scientist who led the Microbial Resource Management group at the University of Innsbruck will take part in an event on Sunday, 29 September. Together with Iris Bertani, responsible for the CEDRIC Project, and embellished with live music performed by Sara Righetto and Alessandro Pasqual Duo, the talk “Microbes and Climate” will look at the impact of climate change and how scientific research can help address this challenge globally. Also looking at microbial ecology, soil microbiology, and environmental biotechnologies in general.
Heribert promotes Science Communication through his Science Center MikroMondo, showcasing microbes – and their diversity, role and potential – to the public. This event constitutes a great public showcase for the CEDRIC project and the way in which it addresses the problem of microbiological depletion of agricultural soil through cross-border cooperation.
This event echoes the cooperation between Italy and Austria in a cultural, scientific context and was made possible thanks to CEDRIC Interreg Italia-Austria.
